A Special Dinner at Mom-n-nims!

Zack and Amanda came for dinner to celebrate the 6th Anniversary of his heart transplant! He requested his favorite meal...........meatloaf! I told him all about a new recipe with sausage and Italian herb bread crumbs, but he wanted the same ole one from his childhood with tomato soup and oatmeal. I guess I shouldn't mess with a good thing huh?

A Birthday............sort of!

Tomorrow is Zack's 6th birthday!

He was born on October 12, 1983 but reborn on March 1, 2003................that is when he had his heart transplant. That kid will do anything to celebrate 2 birthdays a year!

We have had a variety of celebrations in the past few years. The first one was a catered Bar-B-Que at our house and we invited all of the family, neighbors, co-workers and friends who helped out, prayed, hospital-sat, etc. Then when he got married, they moved it to their house. This year, I am making his favorite meal.............meatloaf, garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli with cheese with a chocolate caramel cake for dessert. I have a yummy new herb meatloaf recipe, but Zack insists on the regular ole plain, oatmeal in tomato soup, onion and green pepper with ketchup on top recipe. I guess I'll oblige him since it's his birthday!

We are so thankful for his heart donor and remember that his/her family are also mourning their loss. Please keep the donor in your thoughts and prayers. Without their generous gift, we would not be celebrating. And if you aren't an organ donor, please reconsider................Don't take your organs to heaven,; heaven knows we need them here!

Just in Time!

I left work at about 5:08 pm, walked the 1/2 mile to my car and then I rushed home. As I was pulling up to the stoplight at 64 and North Pea Ridge, I could see the sun just dipping below the trees.

I careened into the garage, ran into the house and put on my running shoes. Even in my work clothes I headed up the driveway and out to Pea Ridge. I jogged all the way to the stoplight and mostly back!

Spring is just around the corner, even if only to the stoplight and back!

The Days are getting Longer

I actually think that Dec 21st is the best day of the year. It's not only because of Christmas, but it's the shortest day of the year. That in itself makes me sad, but I know that the days will be getting LONGER and not SHORTER!

I really hate driving to work in barely morning light and walking to my car in the dark and driving home as it gets darker and darker. But now it is noticeably lighter. It's almost daylight when I get up. And now I am home BEFORE it gets dark. It's almost to the point where I could rush home and manage to get in a quick 1 or 2 mile run before dinner. I've been waiting for this day all winter. Plus I need to get cracking...........the Cooper River Bridge Run is a little over 6 weeks away. It's a 10K and my dad will surely give me a run for the money and he is 83!

Yay for longer days; I feel the SAD leaving!
